Catering Event Manager
Events are booked in advance and the event manager will have lots of lead time before committing to the event.
Seeking a qualified event manager to ensure successful full service catered events including weddings and other special events. Main responsibilities include preparing for upcoming events in advance (reviewing event checklists, packing equipment prior to events, etc), delegating tasks, following event timelines, and directing Umekes staff throughout the event. Also responsible for managing food quality, assembling food on site (plating of cold food items, etc), and breakdown/clean up after the event, including maintenance of catering equipment.
Essential Functions:
- On-site event set up of food stations and buffets; decorations
- Work with Umekes Director of Catering to ensure proper event set up
- Must meet with Catering Director to review event details prior to scheduled events
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with event crew to discuss important event details

Time management and organizational skills
- Must be set up by the established start time and breakdown by the designated ending time
- Direct Umekes event staff as you see fit

Oversee food prep, food quality, and customer service
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Help manage catering supplies and inventory; communicate with Catering Director when more supplies are needed
- Ensure all catering items are packed for the event
- Clean and store all catering equipment properly after events
- Proper storage of all equipment and food items after the event
Requirements:
- Experience in a managerial role; or background in special events
- Understanding of food hygiene; food storage; allergies/guest dietary restrictions
- Current drivers license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Customer service attitude
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful circumstances
- Ability to produce attractive, beautiful, “Instagram-worthy” food displays
- Flexibility to work during weekends and holidays
